Growing
up in Oklahoma City, transplanted Texas artist Bob Coffey
always thought he would become a football coach. However,
the detour from that expectation started with a grenade
explosion in Vietnam in 1966 when Bob was a 19 year
old Marine. He then began a long road that included
two years of intensive rehabilitation. During rehab,
vocational testing revealed both a new vocation and
latent talent - art. As soon as he was able, Bob attended
art school, and then college where he earned his degree
in commercial art and advertising. Bob then moved to
Dallas and worked commercially before starting his own
successful ad agency in 1980. In 1984, and after accepting
Jesus Christ into his life, he left the fast track,
moving to the country to spend more time with his family,
and to start painting again. Out of this grew his current
art enterprise - commissioned custom sign art, which
is painted on rough wood blending art and period lettering
to re-create the look and feel of an antique weathered
sign. Bob's work can be found in homes and businesses
in the United States, Canada, Japan, France, England,
and Germany. |
